Name changed Oct. 29, 1976 from Dept. of Transport and Communications. On Dec. 5, 1978 some of the functions of Ministry of Energy, Transport and Communications merged with Ministry of Highways and Public Works to form Ministry of Transportation, Communications and Highways. At the same time the remaining functions of Ministry of Energy, Transport and Communications merged with Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Resources to form Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.
