Through 12 Business Areas and an operational presence in 33 locations, BCTS manages some 20 percent of the provincial Crown allowable annual cut. In its first five years, BCTS offered more than 73 million cubic metres of timber to the market, sold 63 million cubic metres and generated $430 million in net revenue for the Province. "BC Timber Sales is a stand-alone organization within the Ministry of Forests and Range created to support revitalization of the British Columbia forest sector and economy. With a stronger commercial orientation than its predecessor, the Small Business Forest Enterprise Program, BC Timber Sales (BCTS) develops and offers Crown timber for auction to establish market price and cost benchmarks, and capture the best pvossible return for the public." -- BC Timber Sales brochure issued in 2004.
