Created June 23, 2008 when the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts was renamed Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, and the sport functions were transferred to the newly created Ministry of Health Living and Sport. Ministry was renamed Oct. 25, 2010 to Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Investment, absorbing the functions respecting the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat and the Pacific Coast Collaborative, and trade missions (previously held by the Premier); and trade policy and market functions from the ceased Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development. Arts and culture functions from the ceased Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts were transferred to the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.
