Ministry formed June 16, 2005 when Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries ceased and its functions were transferred to the newly formed Ministry of Agriculture and Lands. The ministry also absorbed the crown land functions of the dissolved Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management. Ministry ceased Oct. 25, 2010 when responsibilities for crown land administration were transferred to the newly created Ministry of Forests, Mines and Lands.
