Ministry created June 16, 2005 when Ministry of Forests was renamed Ministry of Forests and Range. At that time the new Ministry also absorbed the housing component of the former Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women's Services which dissolved when most of its functions were transferred to the newly created Ministry of Community Services. On June 23, 2008 the Ministry's housing functions were transferred to the newly created Ministry for Housing and Social Development. On Oct. 25, 2010, Ministry of Forests and Range was renamed the Ministry of Forests, Mines and Lands, and absorbed the mining functions from the ceased Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources; and the strategic land policy and crown land administration functions of the ceased Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
