"The Yonge North Subway Extension and capacity improvement project is part of the region's plan to provide better transit service to its residents and connect Toronto to the Richmond Hill/Langstaff Gateway Urban Growth Centre. By 2031, the extension will benefit 50 million riders annually. Located in both the City of Toronto and York Region, the new subway extension will alleviate traffic congestion along Yonge Street north of Finch Avenue and will encourage development at Richmond Hill/Langstaff Gateway.
